Community Support Worker
Melissa Moya Vargas, BSW, is a passionate social worker at The Community Lighthouse, where she is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable populations. Growing up in Hampton, Virginia, after being born in Cuba, Melissa developed a deep appreciation for the power of community and support. This personal connection to helping others aligns perfectly with TCL’s mission to empower families, children, and professionals to heal trauma for generations to come.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Christopher Newport University, and her approach to care reflects TCL’s core values of building healthy relationships and investing in personal growth. She believes that by providing compassionate, client-focused care, she helps individuals overcome their challenges and work towards brighter futures. In her daily work, Melissa embodies TCL’s culture of showing up with our best selves—ensuring her clients feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Her dedication to TCL’s vision of healing the world, one child at a time, drives her passion to foster resilience and strength in her clients. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her two dogs and cat, which helps her recharge and bring her best self to the meaningful work she does every day.
